A weekly newsletter to help you grow your business

Hey there Reader,

I’ve been thinking a lot about the direction of this newsletter and I have decided to realign slightly for two reasons. 1) I want to better support the community's needs and interests and 2) I want to write about the things I’m learning as I do so. Moving forward, I'll focus more on education, programs, and strategies for entrepreneurs and business owners. This includes tech tools, but I will also delve more into entrepreneur education. My goal is to share what I’m learning because I’m learning new things constantly AND help you learn as you are transforming your ideas into profitable businesses.

If you're on board with this new direction, feel free to hit reply with a quick ‘YES’. In fact, please do this! You'll ensure your inbox knows what's useful and I’ll know my emails are hitting the right people.
If this doesn't align with your needs, I understand. I advocate for valuable, noise-free inbox content as much as possible. It's okay to unsubscribe if this content doesn't serve you. Make no mistake, I want you here—especially if it's beneficial! Otherwise, I want to help you declutter your inbox for a more focused and forward-moving day - just click unsubscribe and you’ll be removed.

What I’m Working On: Entrepreneur Education Programs

As the Associate Director at Stoke Coworking, I'm deep into developing our new Colearning Program. Slightly different from a coworking membership, this program is designed for early-stage entrepreneurs, particularly those without formal business education. We aim to break down barriers in entrepreneurial education by offering accessible, relevant, and affordable learning opportunities. By experiential learning with a high-structure course design, I want to provide entrepreneurs with the tools and knowledge needed for creative problem-solving and efficient business scaling. We're building more than an educational program; we're fostering a supportive ecosystem for entrepreneurs from underserved communities.

What I’m Learning: High-Structure Course Design

One way I like to learn these days is through audio content, especially podcasts. "Teaching in Higher Ed" is a favorite of mine; it covers best practices in education, and helps me stay up to date with research and learning design that’s crucial for the content I develop for the education programs at Stoke. This week, I'm listening the the episode about High-Structure Course Design and how I can apply this framework to enhance the Colearning Program. This design method ensures that our learning experiences are predictable, clear, manageable, and supportive, vital for fostering the safe, creative space entrepreneurs need to start (or continue) on their journeys.

Two Tools I'm Using This Week

  • Podcast for Learning: Teaching in Higher Ed - Great for those looking for effective teaching and learning strategies. It offers valuable insights into high-structure course design, highly applicable to entrepreneurial education. Teaching and learning enthusiasts, this is definitely worth a listen during your commute.
  • Voice Notes for Saving Ideas: Otter.ai - Essential for capturing fleeting ideas and transcribing discussions. I often find myself rambling and brainstorming into my Otter.ai app between carpooling kids and driving to the office. Having a place for my idea dump and getting useful summaries has been a real time-saver for this busy entrepreneur.

Cheers,

Juli
